Things You Should Know.....

My parents and I just got back from a relaxing trip to La Quinta. The weather was great and we were able to eat some good food, hang out with good friends and work on some wedding planning as well. I thought we should share with you some interesting tips/facts that everyone may want to know....

1. The Embassy Suites in La Quinta provides a free breakfast and happy hour (yes, open bar!)every day. I thought this was particularly cool since we all like free stuff.

2. The regular guest suites at the Embassy Suites are nice, new and clean. They all have a microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker and two televisions. This hotel was built in November 2006 so it is actually quite new. You can upgrade to either a guest suite with patio/balcony or a casita for an additional cost. Check out some of the pics that I took at the hotel:

3. If you are thinking about possibly flying in to Ontario or Los Angeles and driving to La Quinta, please reconsider. It may be a cheaper plane ticket, however, it does not make up for the two plus hours each way that you have to drive to get to/from the airport. We recommend booking your flight through Palm Springs airport. We usually fly American Airlines, however, I think that United, Northwest, Continental and Delta offer flights as well.

Things to Do

The desert is a wonderful place for a variety of activities – golf, swimming, tennis, art galleries, canyon and mountain jeep tours, hiking, wildlife and botanical parks, shopping, spas, casinos – to name a few! Or there is always just plain relaxing! Check out these websites for more information.

Travel to the Area

Most major airlines fly into Palm Springs International Airport, however, from KC, there is no direct flight. Travel from the airport to the La Quinta area will take 35-50 minutes, depending on the traffic and the direction you take to the area.
